This activity works on several fine motor skills…cutting, folding, gluing and handwriting. It also helps with sequencing and following multi-step directions.
Directions
– Make
copies of the template on construction paper.
– Have
child cut out the hearts.
– Assemble
the fish as shown using glue.
– Fold
another piece of construction paper in half to make a card.
– Glue
fish to the card.
– Have
child write a special Valentine’s message inside the card.
Variations:
– If child hasn’t developed cutting skills yet, you can help them by doing
hand-over-hand cutting or cut them out yourself and let them do the gluing.
– The
special message can be copied or traced for children who are just beginning
handwriting.
Have
fun and Happy Valentine’s Day!
