Functional Feet: Preventing Pain and Problems

If your child complains about foot pain, constantly sprains his or her ankle, looks "awkward" when walking or running, incorrect foot alignment may be the cause. This seminar will discuss correct foot alignment, causes of foot and knee pain, walking and running style, balance and coordination, youth sports injuries, orthotics, casting and bracing and preventing foot problems as adults.

Extraordinary Connections Support Group

A new support group for families of children with rare genetic or metabolic disorders is starting in September. Extraordinary Connections will bring together families who are in similar circumstances where they can learn from each other and find resources.

ADHD Support Group

Meets 2nd Saturday of every month at 9:30 a.m. at the Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St. Call Robin at 918-857-2095 for more information.

Asperger's/High Functioning Autism Play Group

Meets every Friday at 10:30 a.m. at different play locations around Tulsa. The group is for ages 3-6 and siblings are welcome. Contact Alison Dalgleish at 918-279-9996 for more information.

"Connections" Asperger's Group

Social skills group for children and adolescents with Asperger Syndrome. Meets the 4th Wednesday of every month at 4:30 p.m. at Brookside Library, 1207 E. 45th Pl. Call 918-582-8272 before attending first meeting.

Down Syndrome Association of Tulsa

For families of children with Down Syndrome. Meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at New Haven United Methodist Church, 56th and New Haven. Call 918-298-0428 or visit www.dsat.org for more information.

Mended Little Hearts

Mended Little Hearts is a support group specifically designed for parents of children with heart defects and conditions. The Tulsa area chapter, http://mlhtulsa.org, will provide many resources including:

- Monthly meetings

- Guest speakers, including cardiologists, nutritionists, physical therapists, etc., will address specific issues dealing with heart defects and disease.

- Hospital visits to parents of children newly diagnosed with a heart condition.

- Support for all parents by providing an opportunity to visit and share with other parents.

All meetings are held the second Monday of the month, 6:30-8:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Meeting are held at St. Francis Hospital (6151 S Yale, Tulsa, OK 74136) in the basement of the Heart Center, Classroom A.
