TherapyWorks' Persaud Certified Clinic Specialist
Congratulations to TherapyWorks'
Liesa M. Persaud,
PT, MPT, PCS, Physical Therapy Department Clinic Manager. She was
certified as a clinical specialist in pediatric physical therapy by
the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). Persaud
is one of only 11 therapists in Oklahoma with this certification.

March
is National Nutrition Month!
"Nutrition From the Ground Up" is the
2010 theme for the American Dietetic Association's National
Nutrition Month, celebrated annually in March. The campaign's goal
is to promote healthy eating habits, making good food choices and
increasing physical activity. In conjunction with Nutrition Month,
March 10 marks Registered Dietitian Day to bring awareness to RDs
for their commitment to help others lead healthy lives. For more

Married with Special-Needs Children Conference
Married with Special-Needs Children: A
Couples Guide to Keeping Connected is a two-day conference focused
on strengthening couples' relationships and coping with family
issues. The conference is March 5-6, at the Embassy Suites Hotel &

Little Light House Resource Fair
Stop by the Little Light House on
Thursday, April 1, 6-8 p.m., to learn more about the resources
available in the community for children with special needs. Several
area organizations and services, including TherapyWorks, will be
there to provide information and answer questions.

Owasso Transition Fair
The Owasso Area Transition Team helps
students with special needs make the transition to work or college.
They are sponsoring the Owasso Transition Fair on April 8, 5-8 p.m.
at the Owasso High School (12901
E. 86th St. N.). Several area vendors will be available to answer
questions and provide families with resources for life after high
school.

Extraordinary Connections Support Group
Extraordinary
Connections is a support group for families of children with rare
genetic or metabolic disorders. EC brings together families
who are in similar circumstances where they can learn from each
other and find resources. Join Extraordinary Connections on

Mended Little Hearts
Mended
Little
Hearts is a support group specifically designed for parents
of children with heart defects and conditions. The Tulsa area
chapter provides many resources including:
- Monthly meetings
-
Guest
speakers, including cardiologists, nutritionists, physical
therapists, etc., will address specific issues dealing with
heart defects and disease.
- Hospital visits
to parents of children newly diagnosed with a heart condition.
- Support for all
parents by providing an opportunity to visit and share with
other parents.
All meetings are
held the second Monday of the month, 6:30-8:00 p.m., unless
otherwise noted. Meeting are held at St. Francis Hospital (6151
S Yale, Tulsa, OK 74136) in the basement of the Heart Center,
Classroom A.
